Prayssac has all the amenities associated with a small town. There are two large supermarkets, banks, several restaurants (including a superb pizzeria), town centre shops, a tourist information office, and several markets during the week.
There is also an outdoor swimming pool (shown below). The tourist office organises various events during the summer season, including brocante markets (antiques - shown below), marché aux potiers, musical evenings and the annual Fête du Vin.
Prayssac is the centre of local Cahors wine production and hosts the big wine festival in the summer, alternating with Puy l'Évêque. 100 or so local vineyards supply wine for tasting at a gathering in the town square. The town centre is cleared of cars, tables laid out for the public and the local band entertains. The event is free but you must purchase your own food. Most of the traditional local dishes are available including cassoulet and confit.
The tourist office (shown above) can be contacted on 05 65 22 40 57.
